Day 48! Happy Saturday! It’s been almost 50 days since I started this journey of mine and it’s seems like it was just this week that I started. I’ve almost been 2 months into it. Hard to believe.
So last night I ate a bowl of chili with ground turkey and various types of types of beans in it. I was curious on if the beans would have an effect on me and it’s safe to say that it had. After eating 90% paleo for the last month and a half, the beans made me feel bloated as well as hungover.
I swear, when I woke in the morning, I felt as though I had gone drinking all night. That was an interesting side-effect. Needless to say, my morning was kind of blah.
However, by noon time, I felt descent enough to go for my 4 mi. walk/run and afterwards. I had some issues on the walk today with my peroneal muscles/tendons in my lower left leg. They became quite sore early on in the route and therefore I wasn’t able to go nearly as fast as I wanted. Surprisingly, every time I ran the pain didn’t bother me, but when I stopped to walk briskly, it was quite painful, especially going uphill.
Luckily, as soon as I got home, the pain subsided quickly and that was that.
I need to ensure that I take a full recovery day tomorrow. Absolutely NO exercise of any kind.
Also, the good thing is that besides the pain going away, I felt much better overall. Meaning, no feelings of being hungover and the bloating subsided a bit.
That may change though for the worse (lol) because…due to last week’s Valentine’s Day buffet dinner fail at the casino, we’re going to go tonight. I’m totally excited and looking forward to it. I have all intentions on remaining on task with eating properly and not going crazy…especially at the dessert area. Lol. 😉
However, with that said…if I do allow myself to take part in complete badness, I’m not going to feel guilty about it and I am going to enjoy it. We’ll see what happens. 😉
Day 48 Menu and Activities
- Cardio – 4 mi. walk/run
- 2 Large eggs (cage free or free range) cooked medium
- 1/2 Sweet potato
- 1/2 cup of strawberries/blueberries
- 1 tsp fish oil
- 1 cup hot lemon water
- 1/2 cup coffee
- Handful of macadamia nuts
- All-You-Can-Eat Buffet (Valley View Casino)
- snow crab legs*
- *with melted butter
- prime rib
- diced sweet potatoes
- 1 mini-crème brûlée
- 1 mini cream puff
- 1 small slice shortcake with strawberry/blueberry topping & whipped cream
- 3/4 Gallon
- Excited 🙂
- Felt hungover
Overall Feelings: For the most part, everything has been awesome. A couple hiccups here and there, but nothing that has derailed me or created any major setback. I’ve loving the way that I feel overall and it’s become an important chapter in my life already. 🙂
NOTES: As you can see from the ‘dinner menu’, I caved and ate dessert. For the most part, I kept my buffet relatively clean, but decided that if I am going to spend $32.99 for a buffet, I am going to go ahead and enjoy it fully. Here’s the thing, I WILL NOT feel guilty about it. Nope. Not a lick of guilt.
Also, I am not going to go and sweat my butt off at the gym tomorrow because of the meal I ate tonight. I don’t make a habit of eating like this (that would get expensive real quick), so having an occasional love affair with some bad eats is going to be okay. That’s my take. Period.
